Biography
Neil Willard Armstrong, 74, of Apple Tree Lane, Wallingford, died Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Masonicare Health Center. He was the beloved husband of Virginia Stallard Armstrong.
He was born in Framingham, MA, June 19, 1936, a son of the late Willard and Hazel Clemons Armstrong and was a graduate of Worcester Poly Technical Institute. He had been employed as a Civil Engineer for many years by the Lane Construction Company in Meriden and after his retirement he worked part time for Southwick and Meister Inc. of Meriden. Mr. Armstrong was a Mason and a member of the Eastern Star. He volunteered at and was a board member of the Wallingford Emergency Shelter.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Deborah Siddall of Bermuda, and Vickie Parfitt and her husband David of Fayetteville, GA; his son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Jackie Armstrong of Bear, DE; his 10 grandchildren, David, Keith, Noelle, Greg, Elizabeth, Will, Ryan, Amy, Spencer and Maggie; two great grandchildren; and his brother, Alan Armstrong of Colorado.
His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wednesday, August 4, from 4 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Interment will be private. Gifts in his memory may be sent to the Wallingford Emergency Shelter, 123 Quinnipiac Street, Wallingford, CT 06492, or the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 234, Meriden, CT 06450.
